Problem

The Decarbonisation Blind-Spot

Off-grid power is a decarbonisation blind-spot.

  • Grid ties take 12-48 months to secure, and bottlenecks are worsening.

  • Projects cannot wait and are forced to rely on burning diesel.

  • Diesel gensets are costly and dirty to run.

  • Current green alternatives are often too costly, slow to mobilise, or not deployable for temporary and remote sites.

What's needed: Containerised, zero-carbon power with diesel-like uptime and response, deployable in days, at a diesel genset cost/kWh.
Solution

Unlocking Green Ammonia

CATALSYS' reactor unlocks green ammonia as a drop-in, low-cost fuel for conventional gensets.

Our value proposition is clean, low-cost, modular power using existing gensets.

Drop-in Compatible

Our CATALSYS cracker converts ammonia (NH₃) into a H₂/NH₃ mixture which burns in existing gensets.

On-Demand Power

We provide 50kW to 3+MW with rapid startup and high-efficiency power generation on-par with existing genset performance.

Cost-Competitive

The LCOE (Levelised Cost of Electricity) of the CATALSYS process is on-par with diesel gensets, using near-term green ammonia prices.

How it works

From Green Fuel to Clean Power

Ammonia is the most practical zero-carbon energy carrier at scale, with high energy density and existing logistics. However, pure ammonia doesn't burn well in conventional gensets.

CATALSYS has developed a novel reactor package that efficiently cracks green ammonia.

01
Existing Logistics

Green ammonia is transported via existing infrastructure, leveraging a century-old industry. This includes bulk storage at ports and distribution by road.

02
On-Site Fuel

Swappable on-site tanks (like T50 ISO tanks) provide fuel.

Illustrative Example:

A single 40ft 'hi-cube' shipping container can house up to a 1MWe generator. This setup offers 1.5 days of continuous operation at an average of 750kWe, and tanks can be 'hot swapped' without supply interruption.

How it works

Cost-Competitive with Fossil Fuels

Technology

Differentiated IP, De-Risked by Mature Components

Targeted Innovation

Patented, Modular Reactor Design

Our reactor cracks NH₃ at a lower temperature than competitors, allowing genset exhaust heat to be sufficient to drive the reaction.

Proprietary
Catalyst

This enables our cracker to match the start-up and load response performance of conventional gensets.

Novel Control System & Engine Software

Ensures stable combustion and low NOx through blend control and performance monitoring.

De-Risked by Mature Components

Proven System Components

All components in the cracker system are proven in other applications (like automotive), with volume-pricing and proven reliability.

Interoperable with Conventional Gensets

Our cracker integrates with mature, low-cost gensets with minimal modification. No complex, expensive fuel cells are required.

Markets

Large, Diverse, and Growing End-Markets

Our initial focus is on mid-size (100kW-3MW), grid-constrained, industrial use cases.

This serviceable available market is estimated at >$10bn in 2035, with the total off-grid market growing at 8-10% per annum.

Key Applications

Construction & Mining

Intrinsically "off-grid" with a high reliance on gensets.

Data Centres

On-site generation ensures supply continuity and addresses global warming.

Ports & Airports

Strong desire to decarbonise equipment, but limited grid access is a widespread issue.

EV Charging

Fleet charging and remote charging are particular issues due to limited grid access.
